Mark Wessells didn’t think he’d ever see his dog again after leaving it with his father in Virginia, but it appears the 2-year-old black Labrador retriever had a case of homesickness.

The SunNews of Myrtle Beach reports that a week after leaving the dog behind while he moved into a Myrtle Beach home, Wessells’ father called to say the dog was gone. He feared it had been stolen.

Brett Gallagher found the lab in a Carolina Forest subdivision about two weeks ago. He asked around the neighborhood, but nobody had reported a missing dog. When Gallagher took the dog in for a checkup, a veterinarian found a microchip identifying it as Buck.

Wessells says he doesn’t know how he feels, but says he’s glad his dog is back.

No, the lab left his dad’s house in VA and walked the 500 miles where he was found by someone else who had him for two weeks and when he took him in for a vet check the dogs chip was found and he was reunitned with his orig owner – smart dog – gotta love those labs!!
